TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has sent a letter to the executive director of the United Nations Children’s Fund, Anthony Kirsopp Lake, calling on the UNICEF to stop a serious violation children’s rights in Bahrain.
“Bahraini people have been violently suppressed only because they have staged peaceful protests,” he explained. “Some students have been expelled from school for their religious beliefs and campaigning for their rights.”Iran expects the UNICEF to fulfill its obligations and defend the rights of innocent and defenseless children in Bahrain, Salehi noted.
Earlier this week, Salehi had sent a letter to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, calling on the UN to take prompt action to stop the blatant violation of human rights in Bahrain.
